1. re digest on AOL
2. Judy, Whenever a message is too long on AOL, it has to be downloaded and opened under File Menu in either AOL or a word processor. You should have a designated folder/file where downloaded files go. Look in that designated folder/file or use Find. (My Find File is in the Apple Menu on my Mac. Don't know where it is on a PC.) If you don't have a designated place for downloads, go to My AOL and preferences for downloads and select a place. Hope this makes sense. Edith ecfensom@aol.com <<This recent Bedford Digest was too long and came to me in MIME format, which I am unable to read. Is there anyone on the list who might be able to save that in a text format and send to me?>>

1. [VABEDFOR-L] Researching BROWN, HEREFORD/HURDORD
2. Mary Houser
3. HI Freddy Yes we have talked before about Daniel BROWN. I have had some info on the HERFORD/HURFORD line but it is conflicting but somehow real close to each other. Dut Daniel, all I have is that he was born abt 1767 in VA, probably Bedford Co. and they had four children (that are known), Samuel, Joseph, Elizabeth & Sarah and removed from Crooked run Monthly Meeting to Goose Creek Monthly Meeting on Mar. 31, 1798. And about the deeding of property, but I think it was probalby you who relayed this info to me. Otherwise I don't anything before that. Another researcher gave me the info that the parents of Hannad HEREFORD were Jessie HEREFORD and Betty Dixon, while yet another has Hannah linked to Samuel HURFORD and Rachel DIXON. There must be somethinog somewhere since both mothers have the same surname, but I don't know. I have found stranger thngs in my searches. Any help? Mary Houser in Gresham, Oregon mhouser3@msn.com

1. [VABEDFOR-L] Trouble retrieving mim. mailings
2. I have been having great trouble with the messages received that must be retrieved through Mime. I don't really know what this is or means. I download with no trouble, but then can't retrieve it. The computer finds the downloaded Digest messages and then asks me what program I use to open it - I have no idea. (hope I'm explaining this correctly as I'm going from memory). Can some kind soul enlighten me? I have a new Gateway computer so I'm sure I have the capacity to do this - just don't know how. Please e-mail be privately, as I can't read the replies or posts to the Bedford list. Thanks! Lyn

1. [VABEDFOR-L] Life before Bedford County
2. Hi listers! I'd like some advice. I have many HAYNES ancestors and their associates who were born and/or died in Bedford county. BUT my line goes back to 1710 in VA, some 40+ years before Bedford was well settled. What luck have you had getting behind the Bedford data to earlier records? What resources, mail lists, etc. cover the pre-cursors of Bedford county, e.g., Lunenburg and Brunswick counties, etc. John Haynes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Searching HAYNES (VA, TN, KY,MS,TX), O'DONNELL (MA,IRL), BROWN (DC, NY), DALY/DALEY (MA/IRL), RUBBERT (NY,GER), SANDIGLIANO (ITALY), SCOTT(VA), HENDERSON (NY,DC), PANKEY (VA), VAN BUREN (NY, TX) WADE (VA), WELLS (NY, TX) My Haynes Web site is at http://members.aol.com/jhayn esnc/index.htm
