I am looking for information/ancesors of John BOBLETT/BOBLETZ b. ca 1799 in VA. He is listed in 1850 Washington Co., KY census with children: Harriet 30, John M. 25, James A. 23, David C. 21, & William G. 18. If I am following the correct John, he was indentured twice in Bedford Co., VA. Once in 1802 and again in 1807. His mother is listed as Katy Boblett/Bobletz on both documents. There is a marriage bond in Bedford Co. for John Boblitz & Sarah Hooven 20 Feb. 1816. John's son, James was born 1828 in Bedford Co. according to his marriage bond to Elizabeth Pamelia Simms Boblett (she married James' brother Henry first) in Washington Co. KY. Would like to exchange information with anyone that is interested in this line. Monday, Aug. 16 at 8PM on the History Channel: Family Feud The Hatfields and McCoys. From the Appalachian hills arose America's most famous family feud, which purportedly began in 1878 with the theft of a hog. We sort fact from fiction about this feud that landed in the U.S. Supreme Court, and finally ended in a legal hanging after an 1889 trial. Historians and descendants from both families, now friendly, weigh in. Hi Sharon, It is really good of you to do a lookup in "Our Kin". My early Bedford County ancestors are John Ashwell (b-abt 1764) and Eleanor Stump. John Payne(b-1726), and Mary_____. Another name is Thomas S. MITCHEN who was born about 1824 that is not really early Bedford but some Mitchens may be there. Also, Silas G. Latham (or Lathen)b-1800), whatever and his wife Lucinda J. Wells. Lucinda's parents were Richard Martin Wells and Sarah Marshall. Thank you for all of your trouble, I really appreciate it. Good luck to you, Mike Tavenner ~~~~~ Sharon Fakkema wrote: > Hi all, > > The book "Our Kin" has just been reprinted. Hi John and Cuzins, In answer to your question, yes. The Bedford County Genealogical Society for over 5 years now have been researching and compiling information all all cemeteries that have been found (and still looking for more) in Bedford County. The list runs to over 4,000. These are in the Bedford City/County Museum in Bedford. They list the name of the cemetery, number of stones, all inscriptions or descriptions of stones in each. Also directions to the graveyard and a physical description.
