    3. Thanks for your great website. Some time, when you have absolutely nothing to do, ; - } would you please look up the WEBSTER name in your Bedford files? I'm looking back toward late 1700's and early 1800's. Keep up on your website -- we live in California and will probably never get to Virginia so this is especially interesting. 1. Re: [VABEDFOR] Bowles/ Boyle
    2. Re: search for Bowles/Boyle by Linda Boyle Lang I have an ancestress named Elizabeth Bowles who was born (probably in Bedford) in 1793/94. She was married to Abram Fuqua (son of Joseph Fuqua Revolutionary patriot of some renown in Bedford) on 21 Aug 1817. She died 11 Sept. 1854 in Bedford. One of her daughters was Mary (Frances?) Fuqua who married Jesse W. McDaniel. She died by 1875. All of these events happened in Bedford. I don't know if this is the same as Elizabeth Boyle that you reference as having been born in 1794. I have never known Elizabeth's father's or mother's names. Cheryl Hummer Chesapeake, VA

    1. [VABEDFOR] Bowles/ Boyle
    2. Linda Lang
    3. Dear Bedford friends, My name is Linda Boyle Lang and have been researching my Bedford Boyle/ Boyles/ Bowles ancestors from long distance. My brick wall is Robert Boyle born 1751, died 28 Feb 1834 in Bedford Co intestate. His wife was Jemimah Unknown dates unknown. He had 10 children- Thomas Boyle (1770- after 1850); Alexander Boyle (abt 1771- 1848); John Boyle (1778-1849); William Boyle (1780- ?); David Boyle (1786-1836) who was my ancestor; Mary (Polly) Boyle Kerns (1787-Mar 1864); Sally Boyle Guthrie (1790 -); Caleb Boyle (1792 - ); Elizabeth Boyle (1794- ); Robert Boyle, jr (1815 -). Robert Boyle was a Private in the Cont'l line and he is my DAR ancestor. I am searching for information about his parents and his wife, Jemimah. Possible candidates may have been a Hugh Boyle or another Alexander Boyle who appeared in Bedford Co Court records in the mid 1700's. Most of the Boyle children immigrated to other states although the children of Alexander Boyle and Betsy Myler stayed in the county. Robert Boyle, Jr and Caleb also remained in the area. Other surnames that I am researching are Crews and Bright. Any contributions regarding this family would be much appreciated. Thanks, Linda Boyle Lang Longwood, FL

    3. Tommy, our Johnson line is unknown to us before my wife's father. He claimed to have been born in Indiana, in or near Ft. Wayne, or on one document he said in Ohio. He said his parents were Samuel Johnson and his mother, Mary Catherine Early. His name was William Belle Johnson. We have been to the Allen County Library in Ft. Wayne on two occasions and have been unable to find any trace of this family. It is as if he materialized out of thin air at the time he married my wife's mother in 1925 in Colbert County, Alabama. Sorry. John

    3. John, Your VENABLE family is noted in my new BUFORD book. Just wondering which line you represent. >From my book: (2) Mary Cantey McDowell, was born March 26, 1836 and died, while her husband was teaching at the University of Virginia, on January 15, 1874. She is buried on the University grounds with her husband Charles Scott Venable. Mary and Charles were married in 1856 and had five children. He was a Mathematics Professor at the University of Virginia from 1865 until 1896 and wrote many mathematical texts books that were widely used. Is it possible this is one of your Venables??
