    3. Don If David Williams and Elizabeth Ayers had a named Mastin Williams b. abt 1792, do you know the relationship between Mastin, (b. abt 1768 maybe Charlotte Co VA- d.1850 Allen Co KY) s/o Thomas Williams d. abt 1803 in Charlotte Co VA might be? Seems like too much of a coincidence. I've lost your email addy from long ago. 3. Hope this 'compile' is useful to you. Bedford Circuit Court can supply copies of various recorded documents. Bill Hunt, just an avid genealogical nut and subscriber. Gentlemen: On the Bedford RootsWeb site early marriage bonds are listed, and a David Williams did post a bond to marry one Elizabeth Ayers, and the date of the bond was 29 Nov. 1786. You have a marriage date (wedding) of 2 Dec. 1786 which is consistent with the legal process. The abstracted posted bond reads as follows: "Nov. 29, 1786; David Williams & Elizabeth Ayres, dt James; Edward Hore and John Wilks, Sureties; Married by James Kenney, Dec. 2, 1786." This tells us Elizabeth was daughter of James Ayres; Edward Hore and John Wilks were sureties for the bond (i.e. co-bondsmen with David Williams; which was a bit unusual for two sureties); James Kenney was the Minister who married the couple on Dec. 2, 1786. To use existing information and trying extend a bit further, the name of James Ayres as father of Elizabeth as well as the surname of Williams become important! It appears that David Williams didn't require consent from anyone to marry, and so had reached the legal adult age of 21 & thus born before Dec. 2 of 1765. This suggests a father who was maybe 22 - 42 at the time of David's birth. So David Williams' father was likely born 1723 -1743. This is the hypothetical model because at this point the number of children born to David's father & wife (wives) and children's birth order is unknown. Below is an abstract of the will of James Ayres, Sr. in 1797 which names a daughter Elizabeth Williams: Bedford Will Book 1, p. 207: published abstract by Ann Chilton,1988 Will of James Ayres Sr., May 20, 1797: Wife Hannah; Sons: James Jr., Samuel, John Daughters: Nancy, Dinah Cundiff, Rachel Turner, Mary Morrice, Hannah Doss, Sarah Cundiff, Elizabeth Williams, Lydea Doss, Ester Henny, Ruth Leftwich Exec: sons James Samuel Witnesses: Henry Williamson, Wlliam Hutts, William Green Recorded: July 24, 1797 Teste James Steptoe Selected posted Bedford Marriage Bonds have these for WILLIAMS; and I leave it to you to see and extract the men who had children. 2. my interest in David Williams is I believe him to be the grandfather of my great grandfather because of something in the will of Elizabeth Williams. Sure would be nice to tie that connection down. Anyone out there having more information on this family I would very much appreciate the help. As would Don Hill who is searching the same family. Ron

    3. Rachel I have a great interest in J.J. Morgan Mill just because my grandmother, India Finette Franklin, was supposed to have been born there in 1900. Her parents were William R. Franklin and Lydia Ann Loyd. Her daughter says she was born on the Old Loyd place above J. J. Morgan Mill in Goodview, VA. (old site on hill). Do you happen to have any info on this Franklin family? Does anyone on this list know exactly where this old Loyd homeplace is/was? I found a site on the left where there had been at one time a gravel driveway going up a pretty steep hill and very large trees that could have been the actual site. I would love to know for sure. 1. [VABEDFOR] Maerckel/ Marckle/Markle Family 1780-1820
    2. Marjorie Newton
    3. Charles MARKLE, Jr. was born March 18, 1783 in Virginia. John Markle was born November 25, 1784 in Stauton, Augusta County, later Liberty, later Bedford, Virginia. Their parents were Charles, formerly known as Carl Maerckel, and Tabitha Whitney Markle. Tabitha died June 14, 1818 in Liberty, Bedford County. The Markle family Bible, last known to be in the possession of the EARLY family, states she was a member of the Presbyterian Church for more than 30 years. In 1800, Charles MARKLE bought a 570 acre tract of land from Henry Duke SHERMAN which adjoined the FREDERICK land on the north. Over the next 20 years the property was subdivided. This is from the history of THAXTON. Charles MARCKLE is on the 1800 Bedford County Tax List. Charles MARCKLE is on the 1810 Bedford County Census. John MARKLE married Harriet BRUER on December 5, 1811 in the town of Liberty, Bedford County by Reverend James TURNER. Harriet's parents were Richard and Ann "Nancy" Blackwell BRUER married in Westmoreland County. On September 28, 1813, at the first meeting of Liberty Lodge No 95, both Charles and John MARCKLE are in attendance. Charles MARKLE, Sr. served in the Revolutionary War as a Captain under the command of Col Armand of the US Army and was granted land which the family moved to Ralls County Missouri to claim by 1820. At the time of Charles MARKLE, Sr. death in Ralls County in 1826, his estate still showed him with property in Bedford County. I hope I haven't bored you to death by this time - what I would like to know is if the burial place of Tabitha could be found. Is it possible to locate the land on which they lived? Does anyone know where the family Bible is now or does anyone know the EARLY family who had it in their possession? Any information on the Markle/Bruer families will be greatly appreciated.
