    1. Borden Grant's Beginning Point
    2. Does anybody know the exact location of the "beginning point" for the Borden Grant? (The original language of the 1739 patent describes it merely as "three hickories and four red oaks on the west side of the northeast branch of James River, it being a corner to Beverly Manor tract.") I'd prefer to have the geographic coordinates in latitude and longitude. But lacking such data, the precise spot on a modern highway map would be helpful. So far, my best information indicates this location should be about two miles north of the Rockbridge County line, on or very near US 11. Can anyone living now in Augusta or Rockbridge tell me if there is a historic marker along the highway near there? Jim Brown Arlington VA
