I was recently informed that a Jesse D. Wallace was the bondsman for marriage of Charles McClung and Sarah Gabbart in 1834, Augusta County. Does anyone on the list have any clue to who Jesse D. Wallace was and his relationship to this couple? Jesse Wallace is listed in the 1820 census of Rockbridge County and again in 1850. In the 1850 census, he is a widower with 4 children and 2 grandchildren. His children were Martha Wallace, b. abt. 1826, Frances Wallace, abt. 1828, Belinda Wallace, abt. 1829, and John Wallace abt. 1836. Jesse remarries to Temperance TREVEY in 1854 and a week later, his daughter Frances marries Alphonso Allen.
