    3. Anita - There are no birth/death records before mid-1853. Marriage records go back much further. I assume you've compiled some data on all the other McClungs who were in the area at the right time and who could be logical parents of Charles, given their ages. Have you checked the wills & probate & land records of all those McClungs? If anybody left anything to Charles or transferred land to him (and if you're lucky, specified a relationship), that's where it will be. These records are all available thru interlibrary loan from the Lib. of VA. Did any other McClungs appear to accompany him to Harrison co? That would be another avenue to follow.
