    1. Re: [VAAUGUST] Augusta County Research
    2. Do any of you THOMPSON or ELSEY (ELZA) family researchers have information about a SALLY or SARAH THOMPSON who married EDWARD ELSEY in 1783, or, if a second marriage, not later than 1800? If you do, would you please share the info with me? EDWARD ELSEY was perhaps among the first, if not the first, white settler to take up permanent residence in the eastern part of Randolph or southern part of Pendleton County, VA(WV) somewhere on Allegheny Ridge. The only trace we have for his wife "Sally" or Sarah is an entry in a family bible that names her as the mother of Edward's son, THOMPSON ELZA (ELSEY) who was a prominent early pioneer settler in the Dry Fork Watershed of the great Cheat River. From the Am. Rev. War pension application papers of THOMAS ELSEY (born 1760, brother of EDWARD), we know that EDWARD's wife, "Sally" or Sarah Thompson, had two cousins named William Stricker (var. spellings) and Mary Ann Stricker (b. 1763). Mary Ann is known to have married THOMAS HUDNALL (b. 1760) and to have had a son named THOMPSON HUDNALL (B. AFTER 1800). Any information about these ancestral people would be very much appreciated.
