Thanks, Pat. I have read a lot of Chalkey's but because the McClungs liked using the same names over and over again, it is hard to keep the family lines straight. Not sure about how the LDS deeds work, but I have found out several times that their birth, marriage and death records are really no better than what you can find anywhere else on line. Just like anything else, the information is only as good as the person entering it and then only if they have the correct facts. I have learned not to depend upon what I find there. Anita
LDS does have some excellant primary type material available. For instance a Kincaid cousin is going through the reels that house the personal property tax lists looking for Kincaids. It isn't conclusive but does show up the individuals that actually lived in the county. You can often follow groupings or a certain individual. When LDS actually films church and county records it is a goldmine. What you have to be careful of are the submissions by individuals. When you look at Chalkley deeds you can sometimes sort various individuals with the same names by where they owned land. Here again patterns emerge. There are also McCLungs in Greenbrier Co.
