The deed indexes are microfilm copies and refer to the microfilm copies of the deeds in the deed books. It has nothing to do with accuracy of entering. I agree that some DAR listings could be questionable. In my own research for the Kincaid family, James Kincaid/Elizabeth marriage in particular, I checked Chalkley's and then proceeded to find all of the deed and court records that Chalkley's referred to. The only thing I have not pursued are things labeled Cicrcuit Court causes ended. althought I have had indications that they may be available at the Library of Virginia. Jane Dean, daughter of John Dean, married Andrew McClung. They were married in Bath Coun ty in 1802. Jane McClung married There are possibly other McClung connections but no Henry that I'm aware of in my research. Jane Kincaid is listed as an heir of James Kincaid in a deed dated 24 June 1850 between William M. Kincaid and the heirs of James Kincaid. She is listed as Jane McClung. This deed was found in Greenbrier County records. The land that is being sold was "conveyed to the said William M. Kincaid by the heirs at law of Washingtoin McClung which deed is of record in the deeds office of Greenbrier County court...." I might add that I looked at $400 worth of deeds through the Family History Center films when my cousin and I were trying to establish the father of James Kincaid. We looked at every Kincaid record we could find, which included Chester County, Pennsylvania. There are quite a few McClung marriages in "Greenbrier County Marriages, 1782-1900, Volume 1, by Larry G.Shuck, but Henry is not among them. This hasn't beenmuch help, but it does give you at least three counties to research if you haven't already done so. I know, Thanks a lot from you to me ;-(. Pat, are you on the Kincaid list? If not please join us. Several of us are working on the Greenbrier/Alleghany Kincaids and there are several on the list from your line. As you probably know your James' brother John married Elizabeth's sister Alice. John lives on the Jackson River on land sold to him by Andrew/Mary Kincaid. James/Elizabeth's son Adam Dean Kincaid says in an interview for a county bio. that his grandfather was Andrew Kincaid. One of the things we are trying to do is prove or disprove that James was son of the Andrew, (wife Mary) who died in Greenbrier Co. in 1811. Tell me what you have found out about James. I am a descendent of Andrew by daughter Elizabeth Miller.
