    2. Michael, Thanks for your input to my query about my ancestor Carson's marriage in Augusta this is very helpful as I did not have the ministers name or church affiliation. Could you tell me where New Providence was located? I believe you sited that as the minister Rev. John Brown's (Presbyterian) area?? And I will also ask you if you are aware of locations on the internet for searching this Presbyterian history?? Many thanks for your time. Jackie

    3. Hi Jackie, You're welcome for the information. Glad it was of some help. Unfortunately, I don't have any info concerning New Providence. I don't know where its located nor any of its history. I was just repeating back the initial reference to that Rev. Brown being at New Providence in order to discern between the two Rev. Brown's. There are two initial internet locations you might want to explore to see if they match what you are looking for or will at least point you in the right direction. The first is Glenda Lambert-Jackson's cemetery listing site located at http://www.geocities.com/augcem/index.html?1018315012530 She has a listing for the "Old Providence Cemetery" which does include a fair amount of Carsons buried there. Another place to check is the Augusta County USGENWEB site located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~vaaugust/ A third site to take a look at is the website for the history of the New Providence Presbyterian Church located at http://home.ntelos.net/~newprov/history.html Also, if you do a Google search you can get more internet references for the church. Under "Advanced Search", put in the EXACT PHRASE of New Providence *and* put in Reverend John Brown on the line next to "with all the words". I got 310 references for New Providence. Perhaps those places will give you some clues as to where to look next ... Hope that helps.
