While researching one of my McGlaughlin ancestors recently, I can across a Rev. War Pension Application in Bath County for John McGlaughlin where he stated he was born in Augusta County May 26, 1764. He later stated in the same application dated 1833 that part of Augusta was now Rockingham County. I have not been able to find his father. If anyone is researching this line and can give me a hint where to look next it would be greatly appreciated. He married Ann Wiley, daughter of Robert Wiley in 1790 in Augusta. I have their marriage bond, consent form and minister's return. No mention of who his father could have been. I have easy access to Augusta County courthouse. I have been to the Va. State Library and obtained his military records but still no mention of his father. Thank you in advance, Susie

Does anyone on the list descend from Augusta settlers that arrived pre-1744? If so; Do you have a ship name and/or passenger list? Anyone with connections to the Bullpasture River area of present Highland Co.? My ancestor Richard BODKIN arrived on the Bullpasture River in 1743. We are looking for any leads to help determine where he moved from. Has anyone had any success in researching Orange Co. records 1738-1745 that apply to Augusta Co.?
