    1. Re: [VAAUGUST] Early Augusta Migration
    2. Yes, my ancestors were in the Valley pre-1744. They came into Virginia from Pennsylvania ca 1735 and perhaps earlier. We know that the first property purchased from Beverly was paid off by 1740. Children were baptized by 1736-1739 according to the Tinkling Spring records. These folks were Scots-Irish and if you're familiar with those folks, they just didn't fit into the political situation already established by the Germans, Lutherans, Quakers, etc up in PA. Being a noisy, opinionated lot, they established a nice settlement for themselves in the Valley, bringing their religious beliefs there (Tinkling Spring Church.). I don't know what boat they arrived on. Boy, I wish I did. All I have is information from a law suit that says the parents of James, Robert and Isabella Moody were from Pennsylvania. Apparently they lived near some Brownlees, as the Brownlees testified they had know the older Moodys in Pennsylvania. I think the migration was probably MD-PA-VA-WV, but they might have come straight into PA through Philly and then to VA. Constance
