I have ancestors who purchased land in Augusta in 1742. They came from Ireland, but I do not know when / where or how they arrived. The deeds for early Augusta land owners in Borden's Grant (aka Scotch-Irish Settlement) can be found in Orange County, VA deed books. The land was in Orange County prior to the formation of Augusta.
