Dear List: Recently I have become involved in an interesting puzzle about Augusta County folk. Do any of you belong to the family of Robert Allen, Sr. of Augusta County? He arrived sometime in the 1750s, I believe and is seen on the list of subscribers of Tinkling Spring in 1765-1770. He had children with a first wife: Anne, William, Robert, Jr. and possibly one other. He remarried a Montigue/Monticue woman and had more children. The daughter Anne is called Anne Frazier in the will of Robert Allen, Sr. 1790. We can't find out which of the Fraziers she might have married and how she may have tied into the group of Fraziers (my Samuel) who moved to Kanawha County. Samuel named a child ALLEN, which had not occurred in the family names previously. Samuel's son William named a child Montigue, which could be suggestive of a tie to the 2nd wife of Robert Allen, Sr. Confused? Me, too. Robert Allen, Jr. was business partners with William Teays in Augusta County. William Allen his brother, moved to Kanawha County around the same time that my Fraziers moved there. We're hoping to ferret out a connection. Can anyone offer a helping hand? Constance
