Okay - the one book I have other than the 1967 Lehew genealogy book - is an Indentured Servant and Land book from Northumberland - Let me know if you want any of the cites - For Keley/Kelley/Kelly - there is Bridgett, Edward, Hugh, Jacob, James, John, Mary, Matthew, Michaell, Spencer, Teaugne and Toby. Armstronge = George, Henry and Thomas from doing this in the past - if they are in the book, they could be the masters, getting the servant, or the person coming in on the ship and the captain getting acres of land for their transportation, or it could be that they are the servant, a few times there have been people wanting to get married, or having children. from what others more experienced than I - you could become indentured to pay for your transportation, or if you are poor - if you think about it - you are in a new country, don't know anyone - they give your room and board... When my grandfather came from Germany he was 17 young and strong so he had arranged a job on a KS farm before he left Germany and the farmer payed his passage. He then owed the farmer two years of work to repay the passage and the train trip to KS. This was true up into the 1890s if that is any help to you both.
