CUTLIP BLACK, signed his will, 1785, in Augusta with a German name, Gotlieb Schwartz. In Rockbridge, 8 April 1830, JOHN BLACKand Robt. R. Barton signed an indenture guaranteeing a loan. John signed his name Johannes Schwartz. The 26th day of September 1835, John Black Senr. and REBECCA BLACK his wife sold land to James Crossly, Jr. in Rockbridge. John signed in German and Rebecca in English. I think Rebecca is a McCutcheon and I think John is the son of Cutlip, but cannot prove it. I am looking for information on this family. Thanks.
