Another thing needed, which I have neglected, is a map of the old Indian roads, which became the pioneers trails such as the Pennsylvania, Wilderness, etc. I got interested when looking at old deeds i found references to parcels' bounding the old trails. It would be nice to document them, put that on audio as well as visual so a traveler through the Valley could imagine oneself back in the 18th century. For instance, between Greenville, VA and Stuarts Draft, VA , both just south of Staunton, there is the Indian Ridge road for maybe 10 miles. It is beautiful. Runs along the top of the ridge, which the indians considered the safest place. Yet most genealogy travelers and history buffs in Virginia have no way of knowing about it. Likewise, it is known where the Pennsylvania Road crossed the rivers in Augusta County. You can still see them! But how would you know it?just hav not had time to promote it to the Historical Society, Chamber of commerce, etc. That regret is the penalty for trying to do too much. Daley Craig daleycraig@cs.com
