My G G G Grandfather was John Colter b. abt. 1770 in Scranton, Va. He joined the Lewis and Clark Discovery Corp in 1804 in KY. He married in abt 1811 and died Nov. 1812. in the Mo. Territory in what is now Franklin County, MO. I think his father may be Joseph Colter m . to Ellen SHIELD. If you have any info on any members of his family it would be greatly appreciated.
