For those interested in the Scots in the Shenandoah Valley, I would suggest they obtain and read the Journal of Philip Vickers Fithian for 1775-76. There have apparently been several editions over the years, but to my knowledge no current ones. I obtained a copy through inter-library loan. Philip Vickers Fithian was a Presbyterian minister and graduate of Princeton. He was a native of New Jersey. Part of the journals cover a trip made by him through the western Virginia settlements. He was preaching at various Presbyterian churches throughout the area. The copy I read had a very good map showing his route. James D. Trabue
