Frederick and Augusta counties were formed at the same time from Orange County. Courts were held in Frederick county beginning in 1743..Augusta held the first court a couple of years later.. Hampshire County, Va. Was formed from Augusta in 1754 Hardy county was formed from Hampshire in 1786. Hampshire and Hardy are now a part of W. Va. G. Lee Hearl Abingdon, Va.
