Norma, I saw your explanation and you had said exactly the same as I did. I don't know how to explain the Gearhart connection either, but if the rest of the census information corresponds with information which has been proven, I would accept it and do further research to learn more about the Gearhart connection. Also, I would check the 1860 and 1870 census to see if there were children born between 1857 and 1869. If not, it appears possible that Mary J. Fauber may have been married to a Gearhart between 1857 and the time she married the father of William Fauber.. That's all from me on this...G. Lee.....
