Hi y'all, Does anyone recognize BELINDESS as a surname in early Augusta County (1700's)? >From the same source of this name, I have found a transcription error that turned HARRIS to HANIE.... So, I expect that this is also the same sort of error, any suggestions as to what it 'might' be? The earlier assumption was that it could be German (Hessian?), and the Bible records were destroyed (1927) because of the 'assumption', but it could be any ethnic group. I've never seen any name like it before and I have a few 'strange' ones connected to me. <grin> ............Some I even take credit for! <grin> Could it be Melungeon? I have no way of know this and I'm just tossing it up to question. I know NOTHING of this multi-ethnic group......... only the name. Looking for any constructive suggestions.... Many, many thanks, Lisa Grimes
