Miller) Looking for info on my g-g-g grandfather, Hartwell Sawyer, b. 1779 in NC, d. 1850's in either Washington Co. VA or Sullivan Co. TN. First find him in Washington Co. VA on the 1805 Tax List as Hartwell Sawyer, alias Bell. Many Augusta Co. families moved down into Washington Co. VA. Hartwell named one of his sons, Leander McChesney Sawyer, b. 1819, in Sullivan Co.
