He moved to Wilkes County , North Carolina in 1828.He married Mary Elizabeth Cass on July 20, 1829. They had 14 children, all born in Wilkes County, N.C. He had one brother, Robert, who married Elizabeth Turnbull in Wilkes County.N.C. I CAN NOT FIND THEIR PARENTS!! CAN YOU HELP ME?????? Martin died in N.C. and is buried in Wilkes County. When he moved to Wilkes Co., he became a blacksmith and a farmer.Can anyone look up land deeds or census records in Augusta Co.to see if there were any Cheatham/Chathams around before 1800?
