The following query was posted to the Augusta County Query Page on Sun Feb 28 17:18:46 1999 PLEASE ADRRESS YOUR REPLY TO: tgamble@iquest.net (Joyce Gamblex) Seeking information on Joseph GAMBLE who lived in the area of Doe Hill (Pendleton Co., WVA) at the time of his death--he died as the result of the kick of a horse before March 21, 1780. At the time of his death, he was married to Isabella LESSLEY Gamble (d/o James A. and Sarah McCune LESSLEY of Augusta Co.). Surviving children of Joseph were William who m Jane McCoy and migrated to Knox Co., IN about 1804, John, Joseph who m Magdalena HINER and migrated to Wabash Co., IN about 1834, Margaret, Sarah, and Agnes. Isabella is possibly a second wife of the elder Joseph. Land records show a Joseph GAMBLE and Margaret WOODS Gamble owning property in the Staunton area as early as 1764.
