I am new to doing research in Augusta Co. and would appreciate some advice as to resources available and where to find them. I have ancestors who were settlers in Beverly Manor starting in the late 1730s. I am looking to find records of land transactions and any wills, marriage records, baptismal records that might exist. In particular, the principal family that I am researching are Davidsons (or Davisons). In 1738, John Davison recorded a 785 acre plot. and in 1739 a Samuel Davison recorded a 353 acre plot. Where might I get a copy of these deeds? Where can I find an index of other land transactions, these or other Davisons or Davidsons may have made. John Davison died in 1749/50. He supposedly died in what was then Anson Co., but now Iredell Co., NC. But he still had land in Augusta. Is there an index to Wills? His might be in Virginia. Several of the children of both Davisons were baptised at Tinkling Spring by Rev. John Craig. Where are his records? Thank you, john. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= John B. Lisle <jbl@tqsi.com> P.O. Box 602, Lexington, MA 02420 Phone: 781-270-1006 Fax: 781-270-1174
