Thanks >> According to the map of the Beverly Patent on the front inside cover of the "Augusata County Heritage Book, the section of the Middle River just northeast of Staunton is labeled Cathey's River. Later maps show the whole length of the river as the Middle River. Back Creek empties into the the Middle River just a little west of Staunton at a place called Valley Mills. The Beverly Patent map also shows a Cathey's Creek just west of Back Creek, flowing parallel to it an also emptying into the Middle River. Jim McClenahan
