Peter Hogg's Rangers in 1759 in western Augusta Co. He had migrated there with his wife, Jane GREEN between 1744 and 1756 from Baltimore Co.,MD. >From an Augusta Co. court record, John FURNIS lived in the vicinity of Swift Run Gap and was directed " to work on the road from the Sherando River to the top of Swift Run Gap". (Swift Run Gap is on US 33 at Skyline Drive, east of Harrisonburg, now Rockingham Co. VA.) Have been trying to locate cemetery records for the area. John died in 1776. One of his sons John (Jr.) died in 1780 in Orange Co.VA. John FURNIS / FURNISH & Jane GREEN were my 4th ggrandparents through their son James who migrated to Kentucky in 1784. Any help or leads appreciated.
