I think you might be hitting my Mcculloch (McCully-McCullogh) line. I will send your data to another researcher in my Matney family - Sarah McCully married Broadwater Matney in Washington County 1780-88 - my ancestor Walter Jefferson Matney was born in Knox Co., TN - he had older siblings born in Washington County, and younger siblings born in MO, then back in TN, we think Campbell County, Powell Valley area of TN. This has been very confusing because these people moved back and forth so much, but I'm sure it was because of the Indian problems. The men went out and filed on land that they couldn't live on, couldn't move their families to until it was safe. What is listed as Knox County for my GGGpa Jeff Matney, was probably a large section of TN called Knox until it was broken up into smaller counties. We've never been able to find anything on Sarah McCully, except that some of this family was from NC - I think we may have some connections here. The McCullough clan from Scotland was large, however, it is possible that all were related in some way from earlier times, and it is possible that all the McCulloughs (McCulloch - McCully and other spellings) in VA were also related in some way. We need to work on this together and see if we can connect these families. I find this very exciting. I'll gather some names and dates to share!
