Actually, Jean, this started with me quoting from Chalkley's, I was serious, the data was serious - the early pioneers - 1745 era - paid a tax with squirrel pelts, wolf heads and crows - they had to provide a certain number of each at regular times - we decided this was for pest reduction to protect crops and stock - then things got wierd and we got all these strange comments and recipes - we got into moonshine recipes and exactly how it was made. A lot of list members got impatient with us, but it was very interesting, we all learned a lot about what it was really like to live in that area in 1745. It was certainly much different than now, or even 100 years ago. I regularly research these details as it helps me to establish time periods and neighborhoods - Mike Gwinn was listowner then and he told us to quit because he was getting complaints, but he wrote me that he really enjoyed it!
