My name is Sharon Moses. I am a descendant of John Antill b. 1717 who was living in MD up to about 1790. There were reports that an Antill or two were living in the German and Dunkard counties of PA in th 1760's. Parts of that area were once part of Augusta Co. VA. Would like anything on these early pioneers and any possible connection to my Antills who moved into the same area later in 1790 or 1792. My ancestor ran a grist mill on Muddy Creek. It seems his son John b. 1763 set up many saw mills and grist mills in eastern OH, northern WV, and in the panhandle of WV, and maybe also in St. Louis MO. It also seems as though one or more of his sons moved to areas where he had built these mills. He had a son James in Westburg VA. James had a son Josiah who is listed as having been a millwright. Son John in Monroe Co. Ohio. Grandson Louis in Cameron WV who ran a sawmill with his own sons, and Harvey in Littleton Wetzel Co. WV. (Harvey was an undertaker) There was also a grandson John, who died in a sawmill accident in Cass MO. Would appreciate any information on any of these people and any of these mills. Also trying to find out where John b. 1717 came from and where his parents came from. Family stories say Scotland or Ireland. Could he have been a French Huguenot that came here by way of Scotland or Ireland? Some of the grandchildren married into French Huguenot families. Working on Antill, Antil, Antel, Antell, Antle and any surnames that married into this line. These include Quinlan, Wilson, Copeland, Draper, Lemley, Pethtell, Wise, Guess and others. Thank you, Sharon Antel Moses ss and others. Thank you, Sharon = Antel Moses
