If memory serves, it had to do with a "rule" or "community" law to assist in hunting the squirrels, in order to protect the crops. Each household had to turn in a certain number of pelts to prove their assistance in the goal of controlling the squirrels. One note led to another, and the next thing you know we were talking squirrel recipes, and the menus of the settlers. It was a great time to be had by all in the imaginations of a crazy few (me included). We advanced to opposum and pig recipes as well. It is known that during these hard times and others, parts of any animal, were seldom wasted. Now if I haven't lost you at this point: I will list my surnames: Moffett (Gabriel), Carrington, Francis, Sumrall, Morgan, Champlin, Clark, Yeager Memories are the best of times on this list. Jenn
