Hi... It is my understanding Augusta Co (as well as other VA counties) were no longer required to keep births and deaths after 1896 and the State did not begin records until 1912. Does anyone have any idea if there were any records kept for the years between - and if so, where? We're searching newspapers and church records but to no avail.
