Hi, You know the counties changed over time. There is still the Old Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, Wa. They have records back and the North House Museum has lots of information. I think part of Greenbrier Co. W.Va., was made from part of Augusta. This was also Virginia, before becoming West Virginia. Just a thought! Phyllis C. I believe the church was/is named Old Stone Presbyterian Church; went to a Presbytery meeting there years and years ago ... but not quite certain of the name. If those very early church records exist they would most likely be in the custody of one of the following three sources: 1) The Clerk of the Session of that church. 2) The historic/heritage committee of that church (if one exists for that congregation). 3) Most likely source: The Presbyterian Historical Society in Philadelphia, PA. I would try contacting PHS (#3) first; you should be able to find the contact info online. Hope this helps RBJ ----- Original Message ----- From: Viola Lawrence<mailto:violalawrence@verizon.net> To: VAAUGUST@rootsweb.com<mailto:VAAUGUST@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 27, 2007 11:01 PM Subject: [VAAUGUST] Fw: Augusta Presbyterian church 1790's Trying to locate Church records to prove the relationship of George W. Okay - halfway through :) This one is a little longer than the rest, sorry - you know the drill - any questions just ask - it could be my typo or reading of it - or their writing of it. I have no problem admitting I'm wrong :) and if you can help me with some of the names with question marks - whether I've got them wrong or right and there really is a family with that surname around - please let me know - again - 1) Ask for the scans 2) tell me if I'm wrong 3) film = 2167844 - 1772-1877 - Shenandoah County minister's returns... 4) forward to whomever 5) and have fun, I hope you find one of yours!!! :) Julie # 070 - 1832 John Dillinger & Sarah Fetzer Abraham Painter & Rebecca Foltz Jacob Ryman & Sarah Coffett Isaac Golladay & Betsy Ann Clem Jacob Yager & Eve Good John Barton & Sarah Kaufman Noah Clum & Magdalina Ridinour Tobias Stickly & Rosanna Rinker Samuel Evans & Mary Moyrs? Peg, Thank you for looking. Alma was my grandmother and she always said that she was born in WV and they moved to Virginia and then back to WV when she was 18 months old. However, what I have found (census records) is that she was born in Virginia and moved to WV while she was still young and her brother Carl was the only one of the children who was actually born in WV. That is why I am looking for her birth information. Anita </HTML>
