Pamela Jean Corbin, 37, of 203 Hall Street, died Friday morning (August 27 1999) at the Universicy of Virginia Hospital. A daughter of Frank E. Kolosky and Nancy Jane Lawson, she was born Sept. 11, 1961 in Philadelphia, Penn. She was a member of Goose Creek Bapt. Church, Goose Creek, S.C. She was Past President of the PTA at Bessie Weller Elementary School, a former Foster parent, Fresh Air Parent, a wonderful mother and loving wife. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Michael A. Corbin of Staunton, her step-father, Marshall Lawson; a son, Michael A. Corbin, II of Staunton; a brother Frankie Kolosky, Jr of Fla; 3 sisters; Tina Lawson Dean of S.C., Glenda Nicole Kolosky and Brandy K. Kolosky, both of Fla.; 2 borthers-in-law, Richard Corbin and wife Ok-Cha, and Billy Corbin and wife, April; her father-in-law, Richard Corbin and mother-in-law, Frances Corbin of Staunton; a number of nieces and newphews; special friends, Eddie and Kelly Holland, Mike and Tammy Hogle, Bill and Lori Lipscomb, Penny Flavin, George Allison, Frank Johnson,and many others. A service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Hamrick Funeral Home conducted by Rev. A.T. Underwood and Rev. Gene D. Cheek. Burial will be in Thornrose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Eddie Holland, Bill Lipscomb, George Allison, Dennis Snyder, Casey Bosserman, and Mike Hogle. The family will receive friends fromn 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made tothe First Church of the Nazarene, 1307 W. good day all. my brick wall remains Marcena Mitchenor, born 1791 "somewhere in VA". My assumption is that since he lived and died in Greene Co., PA that he might have been born in the area that flipped back and forth between states. I believe that it is possible that his family could have been Quakers that were excommunicated or left the church to "go west" but I can find no records to substantiate that claim. I also think that there might be a tie between the Marcena Alloway family of Montgomery Co., PA and the Mitchener's who were in the same Quaker meeting since he has that very unusual first name. This isn't going to help as much as I wish it did but when looking for Kennedys you have to be really fluid with the spelling. Everything from Canady to Kanady to Kennedy, all with or without doubled letters. My brick wall in Augusta County is a Kennedy too, Susanna Kennedy, married David Chambers and their first son was Hugh Kennedy Chambers. Their next child was named Elizabeth Young Chambers. The next two sons were named for paternal grandfather and great grandfathers. My Susanna was born in Virginia (probably either Rockbridge or Augusta) 3 August 1806. There was a Hugh Kennedy in the 1820 census for the region with lots of young girls and a couple of young boys. There was also a Hugh Kennedy who married Elizabeth Young, daughter of Robert Young and had only one daughter that is posted on any of the internet trees...and that's Ann Kennedy who married a cousin, another Robert Young. I believe that Hugh was a Justice of the Peace as his signature, dated 1811 is in the flyleaf of a book of rules for Virginia Justices of the Peace. David Chambers, his son-in-law? inherited this book and signed it in 1832...and took it to Indiana. I've never been able to get to Virginia to investigate this lead but of all my brick walls this one at least seems solvable. EdrieAnne Broughton

I ordered the records of the New Providence Presbyterian Church (Rockbridge County) on microfilm using Interlibrary Loan at my local library. The title is "Session book of New Providence Church, April 1819 - 1849" In 2002 the source of this microfilm was Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, VA (804) 355-9913. I found several records of the CULTON family - my ancestors who came from Ireland and settled in Orange / Augusta / Rockbridge County.
