Our first Thomas Malone is said to have come from County Waterford in Ireland to Pennsylvania in 1775. I think we may have located him near Hanover, York Co. Either he or his son Thomas Jr, married into the Iler [Oiler - Oyler] family. They then moved to the James River above Buchanan, in what is now Botetourt County Virginia. The Malones intermarried with the MOORE and JARROTT families who migrated to Kanawha and Mason Counties (W) VA. Seeking information on these families. Juhling McClung
THOMAS MOORE [abt 1770-1850] and MARTHA WOOD [abt 1774-1850] married Feb. 2, 1795 in Botetourt Co. VA. Many of the Moores moved on to Randolph and Kanawha Co. WV. Seeking information on their family and Thomas's ancestors. Juhling McClung
Hello, I'm relatively new to the Virginia email lists. I've signed up to several lists, as are many of you I'm sure. That being the case, I apologize in advance to those of you who will be getting duplicates. We have concentrated our search primarily in Patrick and Giles Counties because our earliest known ancestor, John (Jr.) was married in Patrick and lived there after marriage. Many of the subsequent generations lived in Giles County. Considering the many boundary changes that have occurred over the years, and the fact that John (Jr.?) may not have originally been from Patrick County, we thought it might be necessary to expand our queries as we haven't been having any success in verifying any of John (Jr.s?) ancestors. John's parents are believed to have been John Clark Sr. and Sarah or Susannah, last name unknown. John may have had a sister named Elizabeth born n the 1770's and a brother named William also born in the 1770's. Listed below is John (Jr's?) children and their spouses. John Clark (Jr.?) born abt 1790 & Elizabeth Wright born abt mid 1790's Patrick County Va. Would appreciate any help trying to locate a birth record for a JAMES CURRY born @ 1798-1799 VA. He supposedly married an Elizabeth CURRY in August 17, 1817 Augusta co. Although there is not a record to be found to prove that fact. They eventually moved to Rush co. In and then to Sangamon co. IL. Where he disappeared after a divorce from her in 1868. If anyone has a James in their line that looks like he might relate to mine please let me know. Many thanks in advance. Cheryl
Hi! I am new to the list and hope someone can help. :-) I am seeking information on my 4th great grandmother, Elisabeth WASH. Some say it should be spelled WALSH. My information states she was born about 1787 in Augusta Co., VA and that she was the daughter of John WASH and Mary -?-. (I have no information at this time on either John or Mary.) Elisabeth married Isaac RIFFLE in 1805 in Randolph Co., (W)VA. They eventually moved to what is now known as Braxton Co., WV. Does anyone have any census info, vital records etc...that may include this family? I have no information as to whether Elisabeth had siblings. This is my first attempt at pursing this part of my puzzle and any help will be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Cindy Kostka Brockton, MA http://members.aol.com/JCCEKOST/1index.html listowner - RIFFLE-L & SKINNER-L

The following query was posted to the Augusta County Query Page on Sat Apr 3 03:53:50 1999 PLEASE ADRRESS YOUR REPLY TO: cupcake@iolinc.net (Cindy Dotson) I am searching for information on Robert Demastus/Demasters b. abt 1843 Augusta County VA. Found on 1860 Augusta County Census records with the following:Henry age 48, Cynthia age 50, James age 19, Mary age 15, Estaline age 13, Rachel age 11, Drucilla age 9, William age 4. Robert's age listed as 17 on this census. He was also listed with same father and mother on the 1850 census at age 7. I believe this Robert is the father of Creed Demastus of Tyler/Doddridge county West Virginia. Robert is found in the 1880 census of Doddridge County with Amanda (Duckworth)Demastus. He is also named on the delayed birth record for Creed Demastus in Tyler County, WV. I can find no further information on Robert, his ancestry or descendants of siblings. How did he get to WV? Was he in the Civil War? Is there an 1870 census available for Augusta County? Any information would be appreciated. Cindy Dotson PLEASE ADRRESS YOUR REPLY TO: cupcake@iolinc.net (Cindy Dotson)
