The surname RAMSEY while of secondary importance to me, is very likely to help me tie down my Davis and Elder lines. I am finding what looks like this for the Elders: Maryland to Dinwiddie to Lunenberg to Charlotte to Campbell to Augusta to Rockbridge. RAMSEY, TERRELL, BROWN, MATTHEWS come along the way... Any help here appreciated. Vince
Back Creek and Cathey's River are both tributaries of the Middle River. Back Creek flows northwest from Middlebrook, Cathey's parallels that but just a little bit further west. At what point they are considered the Middle River I am not sure and you will not even find Cathey's on any of the modern maps. nancy sorrells -----Original Message----- From: John and Barbara Ekiss <jbekiss@worldnet.att.net> To: VAAUGUST-L@rootsweb.com <VAAUGUST-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, April 22, 1999 4:38 PM Subject: [VAAUGUST-L] Back Creek >Is Back Creek a tributary of the Middle River and was Middle River also >called Cathey's River? Is Back Creek a tributary of the Middle River and was Middle River also called Cathey's River? Thanks
In a message dated 4/22/99 1:42:32 PM Pacific Daylight Time, jbekiss@worldnet.att.net writes: << Is Back Creek a tributary of the Middle River and was Middle River also called Cathey's River? Thanks >> According to the map of the Beverly Patent on the front inside cover of the "Augusata County Heritage Book, the section of the Middle River just northeast of Staunton is labeled Cathey's River. Later maps show the whole length of the river as the Middle River. Back Creek empties into the the Middle River just a little west of Staunton at a place called Valley Mills. The Beverly Patent map also shows a Cathey's Creek just west of Back Creek, flowing parallel to it an also emptying into the Middle River. Jim McClenahan
Anyone on the list with availability to Augusta Co. records I sure could use a lookup please! I am looking for information on the family of John WASH and his wife Mary ? All I know is they had a daughter Elizabeth born 1787 in Augusta Co., VA. I do not know if they had other children or not. Elizabeth did marry Isaac RIFFLE of Randolph Co., (W)VA on November 10, 1805 in Randolph Co. I do not know when the WASH family moved to Randolph Co. If anyone has access to census records, tax lists, birth, marriage and death records, I would be VERY grateful for some lookups on this family. I do not have access to any Virginia records. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!! Sincerely, Cindy Kostka Brockton, MA

Hello Augusta County, Presently, members of the HENRY surname list are building a web site that contains an index of their HENRYs. When completed, it should be helpful to many HENRY family historians. I have been asked to conduct a search for links to HENRY online resources like personal web pages, and county and local genealogy association resource pages. If you have substantial HENRY information on your web page or know of HENRY information on your county or other local web site, please send the links to Judy Henry at jchenry@flash.net , so that they might be included in the new HENRY site. If you have some HENRY data that is not on a website, you may wish to subscribe to the list by sending an email to: HENRY-L-request@rootsweb.com containing as the only text the word "subscribe" (no quotes) in the body of the message. After you get a message confirming your subscription, post your information by email to HENRY-L@rootsweb.com . Thank you.
