    1. [VAAUGUST-L] Clarks and related families
    2. Bill and Cindy
    3. Hello everyone, I'm part of a group of people, researching Clarks and all their related families. We've constructed 6 webpages giving (Direct Line Descendancy's) of the lines from which some of us descend and/or are researching. It's at http://members.tripod.com/ClarkCousins/ (Note: Many of us are cousins who have found each other online while researching Clarks.) If you're researching a Clark line, please drop by and see if we have any information on your Clark line. You might even be another cousin. If you only have one Clark in your family, you might want to drop by and try to find out if you're related to any of us. Keep in mind these are not complete charts, they contain only the basic direct line descendancy of that Clark researcher. If you feel you may have a connection to any of the lines, please contact us at clarkgenealogy@iname.com If your Clark line isn't there already, you can contribute your own Clark line for posting, if you like. It might help you find new family info or maybe even meet a cousin you never knew you had. 1. [VAAUGUST-L] Cemetery Ridge Error -- Sorry!
    2. Rebecca Emmett
    3. I made a truly egregious error was putting Meade in the CSA. Aaarrgh! Wash my mouth out! I grovel for everybody. I never was any good with names. It was Gen. Meade, USA, who was perched on top of (figuratively speaking) Cemetery Ridge, poised to slaughter Pickett's charge. I anticipate a slew of responses from folks who caught that. BTW, there are numerous web sites about Gettysburg -- just try a search on any or all of the search engines. Becky

    1. [VAAUGUST-L] CUNNINGHAMs
    2. Suzanne Russell
    3. I am new to these lists and seeking ancestry of my Cunninghams who settled in Kentucky. Hugh Cunningham was in Woodford County, KY (previously Fayette) by 1791. His sons were Thomas, James, and John, all apparently born in Virginia. Another researcher believes that Hugh was born in 1744 and was the son of Jacob Cunningham. This Hugh left a will, naming his wife, Elizabeth, and the three sons, in Woodford County in 1820. I have had a suggestion that these Cunninghams may have come from Augusta County, VA. I have read about a Hugh Cunningham in both "Annals of Augusta County", by Jos. A. Waddell and "History of Augusta County", by J. Lewis Peyton, but can't tell if this is my Hugh. If anyone can help me with these Cunninghams, or offer suggestions for further searching, I will greatly appreciate it. I have lots of Kentucky information on my Cunninghams. 1. Re: [VAAUGUST-L] Cemetery Ridge
    2. Rebecca Emmett
    3. Cemetery Ridge is in Gettysburg -- It was the object of the ill-fated Pickett's Charge that essentially broke the Confederate Army. I recently read an article by an acoustical engineer that said that part of the problem in that battle was that the lay of the land block sound waves. Meade & Pickett & Lee & Longstreet couldn't hear each other's battle sounds, and lacking cell phones, Meade's (I think it was Meade) entry into the battle came too late. By the time someone told him the battle was on, it was lost. -----Original Message----- From: ClCritter <winecell@raex.com> To: VAAUGUST-L@rootsweb.com <VAAUGUST-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, May 31, 1999 8:54 PM Subject: [VAAUGUST-L] Cemetery Ridge >Does anyone know the location of Cemetery Ridge. 3. Rena, Mary Thompson, b. 1739, was d/o John Thompson and Mary Unknown. No doubt this William connects with John Thompson's line (Anne, Archibald, Mary, Lucy, Betty, George, Roden, Rebekah), but to my knowledge no one has found the documents to connect the two. This may be the William in Harman's book that had a son, Col. Archibald Thompson, another named "Roan Billy," about which there's much documentation. We can't even find John and Mary, despite the fact that we have Archibald's Diary. 3. Is anyone there working on surnames Hogg and Taylor? I have that Peter Hogg (1703 - 1782) and wife Elizabeth Taylor Hogg (d. 1829) were located in Staunton, VA. Peter immigrated from Scotland. There also has been some thought that Elizabeth was related to the Zachery Taylor family. My contact on this information is Donald Coe; we both are in Columbus, OH. We'll appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Frances Coe Bay

    2. The following query was posted to the Augusta County Query Page on Sat May 22 05:20:20 1999 PLEASE ADRRESS YOUR REPLY TO: hferrell@couriernet.infi.net (G. Hunter Ferrell) Seeking information on William Farrell, orphan of John Farrell. In the Augusta County Order Book #VI, March 21, 1759, it is ordered that William Farrell be bound out along with Barbara Farrell. I found this information in the book "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia". I am a descendant of a William Ferrell, b. abt. 1755, location unknown. William first appears in 1779 on a Dobbs Co, NC, tax list and later in Wayne Co, NC which was formed from Dobbs. He was apparently very close to the Watson family there, as he was deeded land from Isom Watson and witnessed several deeds among other Watson family members. He married Delila and their children were: John, Henry, Noel, Polly, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Rebecca. If anyone has information about John or William, please contact me. Thank you.
