    3. About a year ago, I found a great online resource listing many Rev. War soldiers -- unfortunately, it seems to have disappeared. Anyone know of any other such resources online? I'm trying to figure out if a particular record exists for one of my ancestors before I try ordering it. Also -- I think there was a form online to apply for military and/or pension records -- anyone have any idea where that is? Any help greatly appreciated. Regards -- Judy

    1. [VAAUGUST-L] Re: VAAUGUST-D Digest V99 #176
    2. I once corresponded with Katherine Bushman concerning my Vance family which we decided were Scoth-Irish. Katherine was researching her Vance ancestors who were German, originally spelled Wentz. Does anyone on this line have any information on Handle Vance and a relation to the Wright family? I am interested in a Handle Vance and a James Wright, son of John Wright, b. about 1710 in Rockingham County, VA (then Augusta County, VA) and died in 1762, wife Lydia ?, their son Abraham Wright born about 1730, died 1782 in Rockingham County, VA., wife Susanna ? Susanna's maiden name was shown as Wright but I am not sure about that. It is possible Susanna was a Vance. "At a court held for the county of Rockingham (VA) March 25, 1782, the last will and testament of Abrham Wright was produced in court and proved by Handle Vance a witness to the will, whereupon Handle Vance and Susanna Wright having entered into bond with security and made oath according to law." Susanna married a Mr. Pousell after Abraham died. "July 9, 1773, Joshua and Charity Wright sold land to Handle Vance (in Rockingham County, VA) July 15, 1801 Susanna Wright, now Susanna Poulsell and son John Wright of Rockingham toi John, William, Handle, Christopher and Solomon Vance, heirs of Handle Vance, 11 1/2 acres." 3. Hi, Found some info. that I think pertains to my Harris family.> >First of all...does anyone know who the James and John P. Harris are? ****************** >From the history of Ritchie Co. WV/VA: >Then after Mr. Berkeley, came Benjamin Webb (as sheriff from 1845-48) with >James McKinney as deputy for the first two years, and James and John P. >Harris, for the last year. John Harris was the next in line (1848-9) with >James and John P. Harris deputies. >**********************> >In the same long manuscript it also talks about Gen. T.M. Harris. I'm pretty sure this is Thomas Maley Harris son of John Harris and ??? Maley. >There were 7 children born to this couple....who were the rest of them? **************************** >Then I found a will of a Thomas Green who mentions his good friend as exec. James H. Harris. One of the witnesses was Robert C. Harris. >My James H. Harris had a son Robert C. Harris. >I believe this to be my Harris' ***************************** Then I found deeds of Thomas Green. His tracts of land, known as Draper Tract, bordered the land of James H. Harris.> >With this little bit of info. Is anyone able to tell me who the father of my James H. Harris b.abt.1819 was?
