This is a great idea. It keeps people's mind fresh on who is researching what family. I am researching the following families: Archibald Reid m. Margaret Firebaugh, 1826, Augusta Co. (Archibald was German descent, not Scotch-Irish. I have much information on the German Reed/Reid line in Rockbridge Co. Earliest settler is Philip Reed who married Mary Taylor in Augusta Co. in 1814. Philip was Widower and Mary was Spinster. (Reed's/Reid's from New York then Berks Co., Pa.) Philip Hall/Hull Philip's daughter Elizabeth married Benjamin Reid, 1813, Rockbridge Co. Family members eventually owned Hull's Mill. Sawyer/Sauer Family (I have Bible Records on two of these ladies) Dice/Theiss family ( I have much information on the Dice/Theiss family. >From Berks & Franklin Co's Pa.) James Conner born Rockbridge Co. June 5, 1825, his father/John Conner Potter/Batdorff family (From Berks Co., Pa.) Hi All, Another beautiful day here in Oregon. About 75 degrees here under the trees. I understand a lot of Easterners think we don't have any trees left here. That we cut them all down looking for Spotted Owls, but tain't so. <G> I have updated the database on the Fisher website. this database currently contains 3689 individuals, in 1229 family groups. Allied families are Barbour, Bond, Bounds, Boyd, Breshears, Bush, Dunaway, Francis, Hogg, Howe, Jump, Keith, Meador, Moss and many more. If your family was located in Halifax/Lunenburg VA, Barren CO.,KY or Polk CO.,MO please take a look. Yesterday was a big day for me. I finally was able to locate some Virginia land records for our John Fisher b.6 Feb 1758. He received a patent on 360 acres on the head of Peters Creek in Halifax County VA. adjoining the lands of Comer, Boyd, etc. John's wife was Anne and his father William. Wm. Fisher's will was probated in Halifax County Jan 26, 1795. Mentioned in the will were son David Fisher and son-in-law Andrew McGinnes, husband of Anne. Executors: David Fisher and Andrew Meyers. Witnessed by John Wyatt Sr, William Seats, Vincent Francies and Sarah Wyatt, with Samuel Francis & Andrew McGinnis securities. Any information appreciated. TIA HAPPY HUNTING! I'm very interested in learning about William and Clement WHITE from Mt. Sidney, Augusta Co. VA. William and Clement were both wagonmakers living next door to each other in the 1850 federal census. Clement WHITE was born May 1781 in Maryland. Earlier census indexes indicate he was in Augusta Co. by 1830. In 1844 he borrowed $62.00 from Benjamin WELLER. He died Feb. 2, 1853 and was buried in the Mount Sidney Methodist Church Cemetery. I believe his wife was Nancy RYAN who also rests in the same cemetery along with several more WHITES. I searched the Augusta Co. Death Register for Clement WHITE'S death but it was not recorded in county records. Does anybody know if the Mt. Sidney Methodist Church and cemetery is still active? Is the cemetery also known as Bells Cemetery? It would be great if early church records existed. William WHITE was born in Augusta county ca 1818 and he married Mary Ann SHELLY in Jan. 1845. He appears in Augusta County Deeds for transactions with Jacob K. STRIBLING, Nicholas K. TROUT, And William SHOEMAKE. In a March 1860 deed, William WHITE is referred to as deceased. It appears his widow was still residing at same house in the 1860 federal census. She later married an HUFFMAN. There is a third WHITE--Horatio WHITE from the same District (2 1/2) that was also a wagonmaker. He was born about 1811 in VA and married Elizabeth TROUT Sept. 15, 1834 in Augusta Co. With three men with the same surname, WHITE, and all three with the same occupation, wagonmaker, I have to wonder if they might be from the same family. Perhaps Clement WHITE taught William and Horatio the trade. If anybody knows these families or the Mount Sidney area, please let me hear from you. Barbara
