I have two Zirkles in my index - isn't this interesting, this is an almost entire German family as opposed to some which are almost entirely Scotch-Irish! Cyrus Coiner md. Catherine M. Zirkle, dau. of Daniel Zirkle of Rockingham County - he was the son of Gentleman George, son of George Michael (Mike), son of Michael Keinadt/Koiner. She was well educated, cultivated, intelligent, possessed much personal beauty, dignity, and with all, was a true help-mate to her husband. She died 6/7/1870, aged 39 years. Children: George Wellington and Dr. Arthur Zirkle (known as Arthur Z.) , he had traveled to Germany and worked on the Koiner History, which is why we have this wonderful description of his mother! I believe he is responsible for the wrong Michael with the wrong birthdate on the nice big Memorial Stone at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waynesboro. Jacob Zirkle of Shenandoah County, md. Margaret Coiner, dau. of Franklin and Sarah J. Steigle (descended from Baron Henry William Stiegle of PA - Stiegle Glass) - Franklin was the son of Michael and Catherine Coiner (dau. of George Michael- cousins) - and this Michael was the son of Casper, son of Micheal Keinadt/Koiner (gets confusing doesn't it?) The issue of Jacob and Margaret (Coiner) Zirkle were: Charles R. (drowned near Staunton), Franklin L. and Luther A. of Verona VA. The Henkels are heavily intermarried with the Coiners. You might want to contact me privately. You may have a Coiner connection in Augusta County. The Henkels actually settled further NE, in Shenandoah and Rockingham counties, also many in WV. Maybe we have corresponded in the past about this family. Col. George Allen md. Cynthia A. Koiner - James W. Allen md. Mary McCune (I think that is their son), you might want to discuss this privately also as it can get pretty involved. I found in the 1820 census for Augusta County - Col. James, Dr. James, John, Joseph, Richard and William, all Allens, and noted they were also in Shenandoah County in that time period. Antoinette Coiner was the dau. of John (son of Casper) and his second wife Elizabeth Thompson, nee Effinger, of Harrisonburg. Antoinette md. William A. Hanger, son of the late Dr. John Hanger (as of 1882). Wm. Hanger was a Lieutenant, Co. E, 1st VA Cavalry in Civil War, wounded in arm and disabled. Their issue: William Lee who married Fannie Blackwell, and St.Clair who married Sarah Mowry, dau. of George W. I think we've done this before. I have mentioned Rebecca Christ who married Philip Coiner, I also have in my index the name Critzer - don't know if there is any connection. Your most interesting name is Fauber, of which there were many in the area of Fishersville - They came from PA and Germany - I believe there is a family history for them. Try searching in PA - I'm looking for the name of Rose who married Valentine Faber, probably in PA - Their daughter, Catherine, married my GGGGGpa Philip Coiner in 1798. A huge group of Faber - Fauber's went to Charleston WV about 1840. The grandaughter of Philip and Catherine, Jane, daughter of Philip II, md. Hiram Fauber - I've never been able to figure this family out. I'm sure they lived in Fishersville and Sherando. Norma -----Original Message----- From: Dolores C. Hi, I am researching: TOOL/TOOLE FUDGE STINSON BROOKS HAYBARGER Mickey in Iowa
William F. Sheets md. Mary Ana Coiner, dau. of Samuel and Mary Keiser (only one of the Keiser connections) - Samuel was son of Casper and Margaret Barger, son of Michael and Margaret (Diller) Keinadt/Koiner. Their issue: William, Samuel, Franklin and Anna. Catherine McNeill md. Rev. David H. Coyner, his first of 3 wives - their daughter, Catherine, was raised in WV by her McNeill grandparents. David was the son of Martin Luther and Elizabeth Rhea Coyner of Mossy Creek - near the Rockingham border - I think these McNeills were from Shenandoah County but probably trickled into Augusta. David had itchy feet and went early to MO where he met some mountain men and wrote a book about them, went back to VA, then took his family to OH where he was an Army Chaplain during the Civil War. Alice B. Wade md. Philip O. Coiner, son of Philip, son of Casper, son of Michael - She was dau. of John. Their issue: William T., Walter H., Bertha B., Minnie B., Cora A., Grover P. and Edward. A William Wade md. Mattie Coiner after 1900 (probably 1920's) and I don't know anything more about this family. I don't research much in Augusta after 1900 - this is from the supplement to the Koiner History which is full of errors, so I can't vouch for accuracy. I do know Wade is a common Waynesboro name. It shows up as first and middle names in the Koiner family. You should be aware that FTM records come from somebody's research, so are a secondary source, not a primary source - However, in this case, Mary Bear was the second wife of Tollarus Coiner (Coyner-Koiner), son of Philip Coiner (1794-1872) and Rebecca Crist. Tollarus md. first Nancy Gongwer, daughter of Joseph and Jane. Their issue: Philip O., Rebecca J., Emma B., Mary A.F., Joseph L. Issue of Tollarus and Mary Bear: Charles A., Annie G., Minnie E. Cora F. and Kemper. They lived at Koiner's Store which was a few miles NE of Waynesboro near where Trinity Lutheran Church is located. Philip son of Casper(1764-1856) and Margaret Barger (1771-1850 - parents Jacob Barger and Elizabeth Hedrick), Casper was the son of Michael Keinadt-Koiner and Margaret Diller - they moved to VA in 1789! Yes, these are the Bargers Insurance Co. if they are still in Augusta County and I imagine they are! Norma -----Original Message----- From: Mary D.
