Hi Dan, Have I contacted you before? I really should try to find out how to tag the messages that I have answered!! If I have contacted you feel free to chastise me! If I haven't; my question is: Which family of FUDGE are you researching? My FUDGE research begins with John FUDGE sometimes spelled (FUTCH) and his wife Katherine MAGGARD(MAGGERT) through his son John FUDGE Jr. and Christian TIERNEY who had 6 known children. Is this your line? Mickey, Not that I know of, but then I haven't fully reviewed the material that Floyd Mason sent to me regarding Adam Miller. Anyone researching Miller in Virginia or Pennsylvania should consult the following comprehensive listing put together by Rich Lebo: http://www.arches.uga.edu/~lebo/miller_geno.html Please note that multiple Miller lines are included here, and many of them are noted as being in Rockingham County or Augusta County. However, I caution that there may be some errors inherent in this data. I gave him some of my data and it appears on his page with inaccuracies, which I will need to bring to his attention. I don't know how many Miller immigrants there were, but I know that Adam was not the only one. I believe there was also a Jacob Miller that was the founder of Woodstock (once called Muellerstadt). I don't know if there is any connection between Adam Miller and Jacob Miller, but I do assume that descendants of both could easily have ended up in Augusta County at some point in time. Just out of curiosity, do other people have known Miller/Mueller immigrants who settled in the Augusta/Rockingham County area? -- Mary Taffet Tom & Mickey Daniels wrote: > > Hi Mary, > Did any of your MILLER women marry a TOOL/TOOLE/TULE/TOWLE any > variation > thereof? Dear Subscribers, I'm researching the George Fridley who married Margaret (Peggy) Armentrout in September 4, 1799. (This George Fridley died in Allegheny County after 1840 and before 1850.) I'm trying to connect my George Fridley to the George Fridley who lived along Smith Creek (near Harrisonburg and the Massanutten Mountains.) Are they father and son? I believe they are, but have been unable to document it satisfactorily. Also, is George Fridley (the elder) the son of Ludwig Friedlich who immigrated in 1732. If not, how are they related? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you for your time! S. Fridley Henrichsen
Subject: "GRANDMA CLIMBED THE FAMILY TREE" Message-ID: <19990719.105348.-127881.5.qmgen@juno.com> I love this poem & printed it last year in my chapter newsletter - hope you enjoy! Patsy Grandma Climbed The Family Tree There's been a change in Grandma, we've noticed as of late She's always reading history, or jotting down some date. She's tracing back the family, we all have pedigrees. Grandma's got a hobby, she's climbing Family Trees... Poor Grandpa does the cooking, and now, or so he states, He even has to wash the cups and the dinner plates. Well, Grandma can't be bothered, she's busy as a bee, Compiling genealogy for the Family Tree. She has no time to babysit, the curtains are a fright. No buttons left on Grandpa's shirt, the flower bed's a sight. She's given up her club work, the serials on TV, The only thing she does nowadays is climb the Family Tree. The mail is all for Grandma, it comes from near and far. Last week she got the proof she needs to join the DAR. A monumental project - to that we all agree, A worthwhile avocation - to climb the Family Tree. There were pioneers and patriots mixed with our kith and kin, Who blazed the paths of wilderness and fought through thick and thin. But none more staunch than Grandma, whose eyes light up with glee, Each time she finds a missing branch for the Family Tree. To some it's just a hobby, to Grandma it's much more. She learns the joys and heartaches of those who went before. They loved, they lost, they laughed, they wept - and now for you and me, They live again, in spirit, around the Family Tree. At last she's nearly finished, and we are each exposed. Life will be the same again, this we all suppose. Grandma will cook and sew, serve crullers with our tea. We'll have her back, just as before that wretched Family Tree... ( Virginia Day McDonald, Macon GA )

Hi Friend Mary Taffett: I saw your query in the VAAUGUST-L@rootsweb.com with the Roll Call and looking for active researchers of Abel Gibbons (1786/1877)/Elizabeth 'Betsy"Bumgardner from Augusta County. There are a large group of individuals who are researching the Bumgardner surname and lineage including myself. There is also an internet web page which many of us utilize for this surname which is: http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/baumgartnerbumgardnerbumgarner I formerly was the editor of the modest Baum/Bumgar{d/t}ner Newsletter before physical problems and the high cost of mailing curtailed publication. Abel Gibbons and Elizabeth 'Betsy" Bumgardner are within my lineage and I would be glad to exchange information with you. Do you live anywhere near Virginia or the Washington area? Reason for asking is that I know where there is a large trove of information concerning this lineage; but it is unavailable for inter-library loan. Sincerely, Robert Bumgardner on gen1bob@gte.net at Clearwater, Fla.
Sorry, I missed it this weekend. My families in Augusta are McNair and Allen. Thanks.
