Thanks Norma, Now to try and prove this is my John Keener. I had the wife as Mary Harris but no dates or locations. And to JOHN, I haven't heard of that book. Does it include an Ulrich Keener/Keiner/various spellings? If it does we may have the right family. You are right about one thing, the Keener's named all their children from the same list of names almost. One of the original immigrants Ulrich Keener did settle in Lancaster County, PA. before moving to Virginia. The other Adam Keener stayed in the Lancaster and York areas of PA I appreciate the information from both of you. I have Elizabeth McCune, my 1st cousin 4 times removed, married to John Kinnear 8/16/1793. However, I have nothing on their births, deaths or children. I have lots of data on the McCunes but nothing on John's family. I would very much like to exchange information with anyone who can fill in my blanks. Hello: I have the Kinnear Family Genelaogy by Emma Siggins White. She shows McCune's in Youngsville, PA and they married into the Kinnear family there. However, your Elizabeth is not in the index. Too many John Kinnears in the index to isolate on your John. Might be a connection for you - if your family moved to PA in the early 1800's. Was Margaret Patton who married Wm Lynn (Sarah's brother) Henry's 1st cousin? Their dau. Margaret Lynn married John Lewis (i.e. Patton & Lewis land grants). In one report I have read that the Lynn family had connections to the governor who was able to get John Lewis out of hot water after he killed his landlord in Ireland. Does anyone know what the connection was? It might be of interest to know that John Lewis' mother Mary Calhourn was the great aunt of Francis Calhoun who m Arch Hamilton. They moved to Augusta Co. and their descendents are well represented in the early days. Also, Henry & Sarah Lynn Patton's son Robert m Margaret Woods and died in Sudsbury, Chester Co. PA. in 1755. Was Margaret the niece of Michael Woods who lead a group from Lancastor Co. PA to Albemarle co. in the 1740's? Kincaids seem to be tied to these people in a minor way. There are Kincaids in each of the named areas that we haven't been able to tie together. I am hoping that by understanding this group I might find clues. George, A good place to start looking is on the Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild website at http://www.immigrantships.net/index.html This site has transcribed the passenger lists for immigrant ships and is searchable by year, ship name, passenger, port of departure, port of entry, etc. Give it a whirl in attempting to find your ancestor. My own ancestor immigrated to America in 1738, so I'm familiar with looking thru ship lists that arrived in that year as well. I don't remember seeing a listing for a "Wapole" and didn't find it when looking again this morning. But, hopefully, you'll have better luck. Deborah, I am a descendant of James Patton through his daughter Mary who md William Thompson. Which one do you descend from? James Patton as far as I know and from Patricia Givens Johnson the writer of many books as shown on the Patton page never owned any Ships. He was a sea captain and worked for Walter Lutwidge. If you are from Col. James Patton then you need the soft cover book about William Thompson she wrote. Another item that is not correct and many people take the source from The Family Tree by Mary Preston Gray is James married Mary Borden, James md Mary Osborne. There is no marriage record found for James Patton. He lived in Whitehaven where he was a employee for Lutwidge. As you notice source says married about, meaning they didn't find a marriage and guessing at the date. William and Mary(Patton) Thompson had son Henry who named a son Osbourne. Most of the other information is correct and I am very proud of being a descendant of this man who helped build America. I don't believe that Mary (Osborn) was born in Augusta Co, Va. I haven't had a chance to go through all that was on that Patton page so there may be some other corrections. That is why we have to go over the research others have done to make sure we get our family tree correct. It is a good place to start and very helpful in ones research. Get back with me on how do you connect to James Patton?
