Could you post the Index for the Census address to the list?
Does anyone have a link to an "Every name Index for the 1850 & 1860 Census?" If so, will you share it with me? I had it and was using it extensively and accidently deleted it. Wish I could help, but I don't have anything on the (I'm assuming) English Rev. John Brown. My 4 Great Grandfather, the German Rev. John Brown, didn't arrive to America until 1798. So, the 1792 marriage performed by Rev. John Brown is by the English Rev. Brown .... Dear Craig: I went to rootsweb.com's Chalkley pages and looked for the reference, but there is not a mention of John Frazier or Anne Allen on the page you posted. I searched page 261, Volume 1. Perhaps the site I examined wasn't complete. Would you mind posting that piece which mentions them? The page 261, Volume 1 I found was abt the 1790 period. John Frazier was involved with a lawsuit with his SISTER, Anne during the 1790s. That suit was regarding the estate of his uncle Robert Moody, and the heirs of James Moody were suing John and Ann for the land. I would be very grateful, as using the Index with John Frazier's name does not bring up this page! Constance

If this is true, I think I will probably cry. Don't be surprised to see sniffles in my next post! Bless you for the page and volume number! Constance
Have you looked into Chalkley's? Vol.I, page 261 refers to john Frazier and Anne Allen. He index indicates other references. Additionally, you can probably find information in the Staunton, VA library. My recollection is that Ann Arbor, Michigan is named for Ann Allen, but probably not this one. This one had m. Dr. McCue, then someone else who enticed her to follow him to Michigan because she liked grapes and he had planted them there. Good luck.
Dear List: Recently came into a puzzle about a Frazier man of Augusta County, VA who married Anne Allen, d/o of Robert Allen, Sr. and his 1st wife Unknown. Anne was born ca 1740, and is called Anne Frazier in her father's will of 1790. Does anyone have a Frazier man in Augusta County who is a good candidate for this mystery husband? Robert Allen, Sr. probably married a woman named Martha Montigue/Monticue and had more children with her. Anne's brother, Robert Allen was business partners with Teays in Augusta County. William Allen, her other brother moved to Kanawha County same time as my Fraziers. We have reason to suspect that Anne Allen Frazier ties into my Frazier line, as Samuel Frazier who moved his family to Teays Valley/Fraziers Bottom, WV ca 1799, named a son Allen Frazier, and another son of his, William, named a child Montigue. That is the last name of the 2nd wife of Robert Allen, Sr. and not exactly common. Any guesses, suggestions, hints??? Constance
Dear List: Recently I have become involved in an interesting puzzle about Augusta County folk. Do any of you belong to the family of Robert Allen, Sr. of Augusta County? He arrived sometime in the 1750s, I believe and is seen on the list of subscribers of Tinkling Spring in 1765-1770. He had children with a first wife: Anne, William, Robert, Jr. and possibly one other. He remarried a Montigue/Monticue woman and had more children. The daughter Anne is called Anne Frazier in the will of Robert Allen, Sr. 1790. We can't find out which of the Fraziers she might have married and how she may have tied into the group of Fraziers (my Samuel) who moved to Kanawha County. Samuel named a child ALLEN, which had not occurred in the family names previously. Samuel's son William named a child Montigue, which could be suggestive of a tie to the 2nd wife of Robert Allen, Sr. Confused? Me, too. Robert Allen, Jr. was business partners with William Teays in Augusta County. William Allen his brother, moved to Kanawha County around the same time that my Fraziers moved there. We're hoping to ferret out a connection. Can anyone offer a helping hand? Constance
I have NO idea why I have come up with this new form of insanity but would like to enlist help from this group. I am working on the James Callison family and his sister, presumably, Margaret Callison McCutcheon. Got a bee in my bonnet to try to figure out a time line for them, their children, and grandchildren in Augusta up to the 1810 census -- for now. Also would like to include the families whose children married into these families to see what family groups migrated together and where they lived in relationship to each other. Crazy, you bet. So here are the names that I know of in Augusta County. When I get to Greenbrier where some of the family went -- I'ld like to see if they were previously in Augusta County also. For Now, I have CALLISON, MCCUTCHEON, MORRIS, BLAIR, MITCHELL,EVANS, DONALDSON, HARRIS So if you have info on any of these family names pre 1810, would you please contact me to see if we are working on the same family. I am seeking dates of birth, marriage, death, land records, tax records, court records or just anything to show location at a particular date -- and the 1810 census in Augusta County if they are living there at that time. Take care Marilyn
Thanks, Mickey... I'm struggling right now with the Moodys, but I also am going to get the real documents from Augusta County. Enough of these Chalkley abstracts and their confusion and errors! I praise them for the records they present, but they aren't the answer to the lives of our ancestors in totality as some suggest! Please keep me in mind when you find them back in PA! Constance
Constance, I'll enter the info you provided in my Frazer database and will contact you if I find any connecting info. Thanks. Dear List: Does anyone here connect to Robert Allen of Augusta County, who arrived ca 1750s? He is shown with his son Robert, Jr., the subscriber lists of 1765-1770 for the Tinkling Spring congregation. I ran across a post on Genealogy.com which is seeking a husband for Anne Allen Frazier, daughter of Robert Allen, Sr. She is called Anne Frazier in his will of 1790. I wondering if she could be the wife of John Frazier, Jr. I know that others have said that Jennett Gay was his wife, but I can't find any proof of that, and I may have seen a reference to her as the husband of a Frazier from Rockingham Co., VA NOT Augusta. Any ideas? Constance
My information indicates that Joseph Lee Desper was born 2-27-1861 in Augusta County. He and Victoria were married 11-3-1881 near Staunton, VA. I have no children for them but Joseph's parents were John A. Desper and Sally W. Kesterson. Joseph's siblings were John David; Robert E. and Mary Alice.
Michael, I would appreciate a look up of Berry Thompson in your register. Thanks Sarah Mock Charleston, SC
Heather, I have a Joseph Lee Desper that married Victoria Clements. Victoria's parents were Wilson Clements and Betsy A Thompson. Is Joseph in your line? Sarah
