    2. I am sure that my Aunt, Louise Smith, probably knew some of these people, but she is deceased and we never think of asking questions until it is too late. I would be happy to donate it to the museum if they want it. I have been to this museum when I was in town and recognize quite a few names as I grew up there. But I don't recognize the names on this card. Betty Wine bwine12@netzero.com

    2. April & Pete
    3. I can recognize some of the surnames, Ross , Taggart , Terrell , Morris and Hutchens. Those names are common in Waynesboro and Augusta county and some are in my husband's family line...but none of the first names are in my data base...this would be great if you could donate it to the Waynesboro Museum on Main street... they have all kinds of stuff like that... I don't know if you are familiar with the Days of Yore books that were published with our local history...some of those names are probably in them...Curits Bowman put the books out but he has since passed away... 3. In the book "Mills of Augusta County", I found an article about Brew's Mill 1851-1885 written and researched by Robert Earl Alley. Does anyone know how I could get ahold of Robert Alley? Evidently his family bought this mill (also called Laurel Hill Milling Company) on Christian's Creek after Henry Brew owned it. Thanks for your help. Kay W. Gavin Minnesota

    1. [VAAUGUST] WOOLS family
    2. Hi List, I am new to the list. I am looking for the WOOLS Family prior to 1788. Christopher WOOLS was on the Fayette Co.KY tax roll in 1788. His children were all born in VA according to the latter census. I have hit a brick wall and cannot place the family prior to that year. I have no clue where to look. Anyone that can assist me, I would be in your debt forever. Thanks so much Carol Wools Blacketer

    1. [VAAUGUST] Re' Calhoun marriage
    2. Pat Pelfrey
    3. I appreciate the responses to my question. I asked because in the "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia" volume 3, pp 30-49, Page 210, the will of Joseph Long, 11 Sept 1757 is recorded in Augusta County and names her as his daughter and I was under the impression that Joseph Long also made the journey to South Carolina with the rest of that bunch. She is listed as Agnes Calhoun, so I'm wondering if her father remained in Virginia while she went on to SC with William. http://www.rootsweb.com/~chalkley/index.htm Having Chalkley's online is great!

    1. [VAAUGUST] Weaver marriage lookup request
    2. Joseph J. Messersmith, Jr.
    3. I will appreciate it if someone with a book of Augusta marriages checks on a marriage for John Weaver/Weber. Based on the 1810 census, he probably married between 1800 and 1810. Information on any other Weaver marriages (male and female) in which John Weaver is a bondsman, father, etc. that took place between about 1800 and 1830 will be welcomed. I'm especially looking for marriages for Christina, Henry and William; all known children of John Weaver and Christina Messersmith who married in Rockingham County in 1787, and moved to the Sangerville/Mt. Solon area of Augusta County just before 1810. Thanks in advance Jim Messersmith Rockville, VA
