Baltimore, MD 1998 page 84 July Court 1779 Abigail Hardwick Wade & Lucreasy Wade Orphans of Pearce Wade, Decd. Chose Richard Ballinger their Guardian; Security Francis Satterwhite; Clary Wade Orphan of Pearce Wade, Decd. chose David Woodroof, Guardian. page 85 August Court 1779 On petition of Jeremiah Wade Orphan of Pearce Wade, Decd. attested by three witnesses setting forth that he is a Soldier at the Albemarle Barracks and cannot personally attend to make choice of a Guardian but in his said Petition make choice of Ballinger Wade, Richard Wade Security. NOTE: I would assume from the above that Ballinger and Richard Wade were adults, possibly at least one the brother of Pearce Wade. page 49 Petitions of Amherst County: May 17, 1777 (A883) (Note Long list of names including) Pearce Wade..., ask reimbursement for expenses caused by sickness. They were soldiers in the State and Continental service in June and July, 1776, when taken ill and their expenses were L17, 15s, 2d and also L3, 9s, 6d for John Guttery. Allowed in the cases of the Continentals. Other Wade names mentioned in the book, Jeremiah JR. Joshua & Dudley. Wade, Pierce b. sr. code is as follows; a. means this person had interests in what is old Albemarle Co, PRIOR to 1761 b. means came of age or was in Old Amherst Co, between 1761 and 1776 sr. means service in REV WAR So there were 2 Pearce/Pierce Wades in Amherst/Albemarle County area prior to the Rev War.
