RELATED: Police Beat LYNCHBURG - A man charged with driving under the influence after a Sunday night automobile wreck that injured five people has at least two drunken-driving convictions, court records show.Corey Dennis Peters, 26, of Big Island in Bedford County has nearly two dozen convictions on traffic offenses in Bedford County and Lynchburg. Virginia State Police allege Peters was driving a 1979 Chevrolet pickup truck when it struck a minivan head-on on Waterlick Road in Bedford County about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. In the 2003 Toyota minivan were Andrew Kern "Andy" Barrick, 40; his wife, Lin da; their 15-year-old daughter, Jennifer; and 11-year-old son, Josh, police said. They were coming home from Thomas Road Baptist Church when the crash occurred. All five were taken to area hospitals. Andy Barrick, Liberty University's director of alumni affairs, was listed in fair condition yesterday and Linda Barrick was in stable condition. Peters was in serious condition. The children's conditions were not disclosed. Just who is showing Bad judgment here? Seems that there is enough violations to have this unguided Missal off of the roads of Virginia. Yes, I know that the Judge was not Drinking & Driving, Nor would Mr. Peters have been IF someone else had done their job. This could have prevented, IF this driver would have Committed to look through BARS instead of being permitted to look through a Windshield. I understand that he may have the misfortune, OF being Paralyzed. WHAT an awful price to pay, when looking through BARS would have prevented that. PLEASE THINK & Then Comment. A T <[email protected]>
