Dear D. Tomlin, Regretfully, I have nothing further on the Tomlinson line, other than the marriage bond for Anne from Amherst County, which lists Ambrose Tomlinson as a surety and reads as follows: "Know All Men By These Presents, That we William Wright and Ambrose Tomlinson are held and firmly bound unto John Floyd, Esq. Governor or Chief Magistrate of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, current money of Virginia, to be paid to the said Governor and his successors, for the use of the said Commonwealth; for the payment whereof, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, and each of us, our and each of our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 17th day of February 1834 and in the 58th year of the Commonwealth. The Condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the above bound William Wright and Anne Tomlinson of the county of Amherst. Now, if there is no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. William Wright Amr Tomlinson" Hope this is of some help and sorry I can't provide you with more information. Gen page. I am researching Tomlin/son. Anne was the daughter of Ambrose and sister to James; James was m g-g-g father or something like that!! We can't seem to find much on Ambrose, but it is believed he came from Louisa County. He was indentured to a John Coleman there. >One of my aunts said the family came from Kentucky or spent time there. Any info you would like to share would be appreciated. Likewise, you are welcome to any I have. > >My data is not fully documented and is informal. > >Thanks, D.
