Carolyn: I checked the gen booklet that my cuz who lives in Madison Heights, Amherst County,VA had done for our family of Gottschalls. This was the only mention she made of 'Gilbert'. Maybe this might be a little clue so hope it helps. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. My cuz in VA is going thru some difficult health tests right now.
